Getting Started
Box is a cloud content management and file sharing service for businesses. Onna connects directly with the API to collect all information in native format.
Integration Features
Files Collected
All files are synced, including, but not limited to:
-
All files stored in Box
-
Related Metadata (file creation date, file last modified, folder path, and revision id)
Onna Sync Modes
We currently support two syncing modes - one-time & auto-sync and archive.
-
One-time sync: one-time sync that collects information from the source only once during a specified time range or up until the date the source was added.
-
Auto-Sync and Archive: Onna will perform a full sync and archive the information collected. Onna will then automatically sync and archive any new information after the initial sync.
Data Exports
All files and metadata can be exported in eDiscovery ready format. Load files are available in a dat, CSV, or custom text file.
The following related metadata fields are exported:
-
Author
-
File creation date
-
File last modified
-
MD5 Hash
-
Parent folder name
-
Path
-
Revision
How to add a Box collection
From My Sources click on Add new source and select Box

Onna uses OAuth to connect to Box accounts. Below is the two-step process you have to take to authorize Onna to collect from the account.
First you'll have to add user credentials and give permissions to Onna to access the account

Then you'll be asked to grant Onna access

That will take you to the following page:

First, name your source. This is the source's title on the platform. If you're naming for eDiscovery purposes a common convention is to name it after the company or account individual.
The final step is to select the sync mode that you'd like for the source. We describe the different sync types above.
Note: If you'd like to use the date range feature, select One-time Sync.
Then click Get Folders. This will demonstrate a list of all folders found in the user's account. The screenshot below is an account with two folders.
There is also an option to create a CSV file listing the contents of the trash folder in Box. This can be found under the 'Trash logs' section.

Once you have clicked Sync, you will see this integration under your Sources page. Onna will begin to interact with Box's API and begin to sync files. Files will be processed and indexed so that all is searchable. The source will indicate that it's syncing during this process.

When you click on the Box data source, you will start seeing results being populated.

From this screen, you are able to filter results by date range, categories, and/or extensions using the menu on the left.
Box files in Onna

Onna renders all Box files in their original format. The example above is a PDF.
Accessing audit logs
Back in the results screen, you can click on the information icon on the top right which will take you to the source details where you can see how many files the source has and its size. In this same panel, you can scroll down and select the Audits button to see the source's collection audit logs.

You can learn more about accessing and navigating the source's collection audit logs in this article.
